The successful candidate will have current laboratory experience in cell biology, molecular biology, fermentation, cell culture, and recombinant protein production and characterization. A primary responsibility for this position is to manage the day-to-day operations of the BSBI teaching lab, including maintaining an organized and clean lab space, ordering and stocking supplies, and carrying out research experiments relevant to the lab. Importantly, this position requires the ability to interact with, teach, and mentor high-school and college student interns in their research projects.
This position requires hands-on laboratory experience in biopharmaceutical research and development with demonstrated skills in as many of the following areas as possible: molecular biology, fermentation, cell culture, recombinant protein production and characterization, standard analytical techniques such as UV-vis spectroscopy, agarose and SDS-PAGE electrophoresis, PCR, Western blotting, ELISA assays. This person will be required to specify and procure the materials necessary to maintain the operating capacity of the lab. The equivalent of 1+ years of practical experience in either an academic or industrial laboratory is preferred. This person must be comfortable working with students as well as fellow scientists at the Pennsylvania Biotechnology Center.
