Eric J. Brand, a Doylestown-area resident, has been hired as the inaugural Chief People Officer for the Hepatitis B Foundation, Baruch S. Blumberg Institute, and Pennsylvania Biotechnology Center (PABC) after providing human resources support as a consultant across the organizations for nearly one year.
“Creating this full-time position not only fortifies our intent to become a top destination for talent but also reaffirms our commitment to employees that our culture is one in which everyone’s work and contributions are properly valued and appreciated,” said Louis P. Kassa III, MPA, chief executive officer of the Foundation, Institute and PABC.
“With more than 30 years’ experience driving results and championing high-performing teams across the life sciences sector, we are confident in Brand’s abilities to continue seeing the possibilities in people, building supporting competencies that further engage and enrich our employees and accelerate the development of innovative processes across our organizations to advance our collective mission to cure hepatitis B,” Kassa said.
After beginning his career as a medical research associate at the University of Miami, Brand acquired broad experience in the medical device, pharmaceutical and consumer sectors working in the areas of research and development, business development, sales, sales leadership, marketing and field operations, regulatory affairs, sales operations, change management, human resources, executive advisement, and global professional and leadership development with companies including Bristol Myers Squibb, Endo, Johnson & Johnson and Pharmacia(Pfizer).
“I am thrilled to begin this new chapter of my career surrounded by innovative companies on the verge of breakthroughs, international thought leaders seeking to cure disease and a team focused on being a force for good,” Brand said. “I look forward to making a significant impact for not only my fellow employees and leadership teams but also the communities they serve.”
A father to adult triplets, Brand serves as a lecturer for the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and as a board member of the Road Angels of Doylestown, a non-profit supporting local charities and communities through a shared passion for classic cars.
