Richard G. Pestell, AO, MB, BS, PhD, MD, FRACP, Doctorus Honoris Causa, D. MedSci, FACP,  FAAAS, FRSB, MBA, FRCP (Ireland), FRC (London), MAE, distinguished professor at the Blumberg Institute was recently elected to membership of the Hungarian National Academy of Sciences. Honorary Members of the Hungarian National Academy of Sciences are individuals, including both Hungarian and foreign scholars, who are recognized for their outstanding contributions to science and are elected for life.

Blumberg Institute faculty and staff including Aejaz Sayeed, PhD, Timothy Block, PhD and Daniel Zezulinski have published the article “Detection of Circulating mRNA Variants in Hepatocellular Carcinoma Patients using targeted RNAseq.” The objective of the study was to use targeted RNAseq to validate the specificity and sensitivity of these HCC selective variants in an independent cohort of patients with liver cirrhosis (LC). Another article was recently published by Blumberg Institute faculty and staff including Jinhong Chang, PhD, Fuxuan Wang, PhD, Bo Chen, PhD and Zhao Gao, PhD. In the article, “Modes of action of a small molecule antiviral compound targeting yellow fever virus NS4B protein”,  they uncover the unprecedented modes of action of a small-molecule compound targeting the yellow fever virus NS4B protein.
